パリ出身の KARRAS は、オールドスクールなデスメタル、パンク／クラスト、グラインドコアの破壊的な熱狂にしっかりと根ざし、一切の妥協を許さないブルータルでエクストリームな音楽を届けている。
このパワー・トリオは、ディエゴ・ジャンソン（ヴォーカル／ベース）、ヤン・ウルトー（ギター、有名なフレンチ・メタル・バンド、マス・ヒステリアにも在籍）、エティエンヌ・サルトゥー（ドラム、ブラックメタル／スラッジ・バンド、デリヴァランスにも在籍）で構成されている。
バンドのコンセプトと名前は、カルト映画「エクソシスト」（ウィリアム・フリードキン監督）と、その主人公である父親ダミアン・カラスに基づいている。短くてキャッチーな曲とリズミカルなエネルギーで、カラスのファースト・アルバム『None More Heretic』（2020年3月、フランスのレーベルVerycordsからリリース）は、地獄と煉獄の神話をテーマにした13曲からなり、ダミアン・カラス神父の傷と、彼の肉体と魂を奪った悪魔との個人的な内なる戦いを描いている。
同じく13曲からなるバンドのセカンド作品『We Poison Their Young』は、2023年9月にアメリカのレーベルM-Theory Audioからリリースされ、全世界に配信される。このアルバムでは、バンドはブルータリティの面でさらに進化し、前作よりもさらにキャッチーな楽曲を提供している。
『We poison their young』は、悪魔憑きの犠牲となり、長い年月をかけて悪魔祓いを受けた謎の少年ローランド・ドウの実話に基づいている。このアルバムの歌詞は、長い呪術的セッションの間、結果がわからず、心の中で葛藤する少年の姿を描いている。
KARRAS は、エクストリーム・メタルを愛するすべての人々をその旗の下に団結させる用意がある。
Originally from Paris, Karras is firmly rooted in Old-chool Death Metal, Punk / Crust and Grindcore’s destructive frenzy, delivering a brutal and extreme music with no compromise whatsoever.
The power-trio is comprised of Diego Janson (vocals/bass), Yann Heurtaux (guitar, also in famous French metal band Mass Hysteria) and Etienne Sarthou (drums, also in blackmetal/sludge band Deliverance).
The band’s concept and name is based upon cult movie « The exorcist » (by William Friedkin) and its main character, father Damien Karras. With its short and catchy songs, as well as its rhythmic energy, Karras first record « None More Heretic » (out march 2020 via French label erycords), delivers 13 ravaging songs about the myth of inferno and purgatory, and tells the story of Father Damien Karras’s wounds and his personal inner fight against the demon which took his body and soul.
The band’s second effort, entitled « We Poison Their Young », also comprised of 13 songs, is out on September 2023 via American label M-Theory Audio and benefits from a worldwide distribution. This record sees the band go even further in terms of brutality, delivering even catchier tunes than its predecessor.
« We poison their young » is based on the true story of a mysterious boy named Roland Doe, victim of a demonic possession and exorcised during many years. The album’s lyrics are about the inner struggle of this young boy during the long conjuration sessions, unsure of the outcome.
